Commie says being called a commie is “offensive”. And “ignorant”.

And now for another example what I call “why it’s hard being a liberal, um, progressive, er, socialist, heck, commie”.

‘Communist movement’ hiding in NDP, Mammoliti warns

For somewhat similar subject matter see the left’s redefinition effort involving words or terms like “marriage”, “investment”, “female reproductive rights”, and “revenue”.

World gone mad?

We cling to an island of truth and sanity in a sea of hatred, lies, confusion, and sheer stupidity.

And these past couple of weeks, that island has been battered by storms. Mind you, at least it doesn’t have to worry about a chunk of it wanting to separate.

Unlike Canada, one of the greatest national experiments of all time. We don’t conquer and dominate, but we are an extraordinary country.

Yet still a bunch of extremists in Quebec want to leave. Fine, let them moan. But don’t allow one of their own to lead an ostensibly federalist party, the NDP, and then claim to care about “Canadian families.”

All of them, or just the ones who speak French and live in Quebec?

Let’s be candid here. Half of the NDP parliamentary caucus is composed of people with ludicrous ideas, and many of them are separatists. That party leader Nycole Turmel was a member of the separatist party, and still a member of separatist organizations, says much about the socialists, as does their incompetence in making her their interim boss.

Sorry comrades, you’re just not ready for prime time.

Neither is fellow lefty Khaled Mouammar, outgoing and longtime president of the Canadian Arab Federation. There was a time when this group was respected, and spoke reasonably and responsibly. Now it is shrill, militant and simply not taken seriously.

Just to prove the point, the hysterical Mouammar once again distributed “interesting” views about Jews on his mass e-mail. This time it was the theory Israel was behind the Norway massacre and “the Mossad’s fingerprints” are all over the attack.

Ah, those Hebrews. Now shape-shifting to resemble blond, blue-eyed Scandinavians. And you wonder why there is no peace in the Middle East!

Not much peace at the Caribbean Carnival in Toronto either, where there was a fatal shooting.

We’re all supposed to say this is a great parade and party, even though most of us have never been to it and have no intention of doing so.

But it gives white people street credibility, particularly if they’re in media. I’ve also heard the “one million” number for attendance, which is even more absurd when it’s claimed for the Pride parade.

Almost as bad as the shooting are the patently dishonest cries this could have happened anywhere, no to racism, blah, blah, blah. Really? Doesn’t happen at other, larger festivities.

Look, this is not about race, but it is about culture. There is a crisis in urban, black culture and white denial based on misplaced guilt only leads to more dead black kids.

It’s like the same latte liberals saying all religions are capable of terrorism, and then waiting around for news of the next Mennonite or Reform Jew to wipe out a village.

In Washington, President Obama — peace be upon him — once again mismanaged a crisis and then blamed everybody apart from himself and his people for the U.S. financial quagmire.

Thank goodness he is the greatest man in human history, otherwise we might be in trouble.

Island of sanity, ship of fools.

Keep swimming my friends, keep swimming.

Angry Gays: F-Bombs, Glitterbombs, Phlegm Phones and Death Wishes

(Reader warning: rough language ahead!)

What would happen if Sean Hannity, Dennis Miller, Dr. Keith Ablow, or a conservative barbeque salesman, for that matter, expressed on national television the desire to “F— the sh-t out of” some powerful, prominent and accomplished liberal woman against her will? Or, in other words, rape said senorita?

Do you think that would make the evening news? Do you think he would get fired from his job? Do you think that all conservatives far and wide would have to profusely apologize and go through sensitivity training for the next eight millennia? The answer to those tres questions would be: duh. You bet they would.

In addition, what if some conservative dude whom the Tea Party currently fawns over got on a popular weekend cable show and said, “I wish all the politicians who support homosexual marriage were f—ing dead”?

Do you think Matt Lauer would do a hit on that diatribe come Monday morning? Do you think the Tea Party darling would have to forfeit his fair perch with the movement? Do you think idiot boy would get a visit from the local police department for uttering such hateful speech against a group of people? The answers to those questions would be… yes, yes and heck yes, he would.

Also, can you imagine if a faction from Focus on the Family showed up at the private business of a liberal with whom they vehemently disagreed, disrupted that workplace, and then strafed offices with buckets of glitter while blaring “Jesus Freak” in the background?

Do you think Rachel Maddow would go mad cow on that ditty come 9:00 p.m. the next day? Do you think the Focus freaks would have trespassing charges pressed against them? Do you think the belligerent Christian vandals would get canned from their jobs at Focus?

I’m a thinkin’….yes. Why, yes, they certainly would–and pretty dang quickly, mind you, like, so fast it would make your head spin.

And lastly, can you imagine what would happen if Don Wildmon, sick with the flu, somehow snuck into Obama’s personal campaign headquarters and licked doorknobs, keypads, coffee cups and telephone receivers in the hopes of getting Obama severely ill in order to derail an important event and then was actually stupid enough to write about this germ warfare against the prez?

Would that make the news? Would that make people look at the American Family Association and say, “You dudes are some sick and twisted monkeys”? Here, again, I’m guessing bingo.

There’s no way in Hades that conservatives or Christians could get away with that kind of violent rhetoric and criminal activity without the media and the cops landing on their chest with both boots. But do you know who can get away with that kind of bullcrap? Gay activists, that’s who.

Yep, this past week Dan Savage (who is obviously a bubble off level) said he wished Republicans were all “f—ing dead” and that he would love to “f— the sh-t” out of Rick Santorum. That’s the same Dan Savage who, sick with the flu, phlegmed Gary Bauer’s phones during his bid for the White House in 2000 and bragged about it.

In addition, homosexual vandals blaring Lady Gaga music blew into the private business of Michele Bachmann’s husband, raised all kinds of hell and then dumped glitter in his offices and were dumb enough to film it (but nary a media peep nor one arrest).

The lesson is clear, little children: If you wanna be a vile vandal but don’t want to be harangued by the media and would like to skate when you should be fined or imprisoned, you might want to consider homosexuality because they can obviously do the aforementioned without any repercussions.

The end.

Pie-throwing: violence or hilarity? Apparently it depends who it’s against. Part 2.

Part Two
See Part One here

You think the Rupert Murdoch/News of the World story is about corruption in media and government?  You know nothing.  In Canada, the state actually owns and legally protects and then funds a media behemoth which not only reports news, including political news, does its own news-y polls, and so on, but also has editorial opinions about the news, which they (or more accurately, Canadian taxpayers) pay for.  And the government appoints the people who run the outfit.  There is no issue of “church and state” in Canada.  But media and state? It’s rampant. And it’s arguably more dangerous than any confluence of Christianity, or God, and government.  And of course it’s an abomination.

So on the more serious side of the Rupert Murdock pie-ing incident, I wondered why supposedly serious (even if they are surreptitiously left-wing) news outfits like the state-owned media called the CBC (or what in Canada they call “the Mother Corp” with only the slightest hint of nervous laughter about the mother of all examples of their growing government and nanny-statism),  they breathlessly cover the Murdoch story as a serious story (Murdoch owns the private “right-wing” Fox News dontcha know!), but then allow countless comments like this one to be posted at its illegitimate child-like web site:

cbc.ca-comment-07-19-11

The comment reads: "Pie in the FACE!! sweeeeet he should get one of those everyday for the rest of his life...." -- a CBC.ca comment from an apparent violence-advocating CBC fan. And the CBC "moderates" comments, and accepted this one. (I reported it to them as something I saw as advocating violence, but they left it there anyway.)

The “Mother Corp” CBC and its so-called moderators should have listened to their own mommy, or perhaps the pc term is co-parents, also known as the Canadian Constitution and the rule of law (that document begins: “Whereas Canada is founded upon the principles that recognize the supremacy of God and the rule of law…”).  Oops  — God too?  Well there’s a third parent there then, isn’t there?  Crickies.  How modern.  Anyway the CBC’s own reporting from previous years provides a clue even they can understand:

Pie throwers tossed suspended sentences

CBC.ca — Nov 10, 2000

Two men who attacked [Liberal Party] Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Stephane Dion with cream pies have been found guilty of assault.

Patrick Robert and Benoit Foisy have been given six-month suspended sentences for the May 1999 creaming.

The judge also told each man to perform 50 hours of community work and to stay away from Dion.

The judge says the pair had criminal intent.

Well perhaps like all child-like delinquents, the CBC believe the law “isn’t the boss of them.”  So then maybe like so many of today’s self-esteemed and ever-entitled children, the Mother Corp’s own Rules are the boss of them.   Here’s some select excerpts from those Rules:

What is and isn’t acceptable?

  • Be civil.
  • When you are writing about legal issues, remember that people are innocent until proven guilty (that may mean using words such as “allegedly”).

Always avoid:

  • Personal attacks and defamatory statements.
  • Threats or suggesting committing a criminal act.
  • Insensitive comments regarding the death or injury of private individuals, especially children.

If you violate any of these rules, then your comment will not be posted and your account may be suspended.

FURTHERMORE, the rules say, in true massive government politburo style, that the rules are themselves subject to the official terms of use policies… (“The above rules are a summary of our guidelines. For more details, read the CBC’s official Submissions Policy.”)

OK let’s bother with that since as a taxpayer I paid someone to write it up…

Submissions
(ii) post or transmit any unlawful, threatening, abusive, libellous, defamatory, obscene, vulgar, pornographic, profane or indecent information of any kind, including, without limitation, any Submission constituting or encouraging conduct that would constitute a criminal offense, give rise to civil liability or otherwise violate any local, state, provincial, national or international law or regulation;

(iv) post or transmit any Submission that promotes racism, bigotry, hatred or physical harm of any kind against any group or individual, could be harmful to minors, harasses or advocates harassment of another person, provides material that exploits people under the age of 18 in a sexual or violent manner, provides instructional information about illegal activities, including, without limitation, the making or buying of illegal weapons;

[... etc]

So possibly the comment didn’t break the actual letter of the law, or the CBC’s own Rules, nor even their official Submissions Policy. I’m not even sure. I’d need a lawyer. But I think it’s a pretty easy call if I were a moderator — or sane.  Especially if I’m working on the taxpayer’s dime at a state-owned, state-run media behemoth paid for by taxpayers.

Hey I wonder  –  if it happens again and the 80-year-old Murdoch or somebody else dies as a result of all the violent mayhem, will the CBC will hold itself partly responsible, and make a determined and yet gratuitous mention of their possible complicity in the violence and death approximately 800 times, as per the breathless stories in the liberal media about how Sarah Palin, because she once wrote something about “cross-hairs,” was partly responsible for the shooting of Democratic congressman Giffords!  Yup I’m so sure!

Meanwhile, did ya hear the one about George Soros and Rachel Maddow being lunged at and pied in the face by a conservative activist  –  or to use one of the liberals’ and their liberal media’s own extremely offensive and bigoted slurs, by a “tea bagger”?  No. No, you did not. And if you did, it would not be treated as a joke, I assure you, except the part about calling them “tea baggers.”  Nor would joking about that particular violence be tolerated at the CBC, I’m quite sure.

For my part, I’m only humored  –  albeit cynically  –  about the fact that while the inquisitive big-government MPs sat on their asses watching the violence unfold against The Evil Corporate Leaders (all of the MPs in my view sat there but for one female, who did actually rise up out of her seat), it was Rupert Murdoch’s tiny wife, clad in a cute pink outfit and heels, who instantly jumped to the defense of the unsuspecting husband, and landed what appeared to be a solid right upon the useful idiot’s vacuous head.  Full seconds later, a London bobby shuffled up to help control the attacker. Male MPs sitting there… watching it unfold.  The committee chairman later apologized, and that, was that.  No inquiry.  End of story.

and (as referred in Part 1), her It’s only funny until someone loses a pie (2005 column)

Pie-throwing: violence or hilarity? Apparently it depends who it’s against. Part 1.

I’ve got as good a sense of humor as the next guy.  Just ask my wife whose eyes are now permanently fixed looking up at the ceiling, having rolled them at my genius remarks so many times.  Remember your momma telling you if you keep making that face it’ll get stuck like that forever? It’s true!  But speaking of things your momma taught you…

Violently lunging at Rupert Murdoch, a tiny 80-year-old man, in an ostensibly secure, serious, government-controlled hearing, which up until that moment seemed a quiet and sober place is… actually just not the slightest bit funny in any way, shape or form.  Or as some liberals may recall it better, “No Johnny!… I mean not unless it makes you feel smarter.”

And no, it’s also not “intellectual.”  And no, liberals, mine is not a political or “ideological” or humorless judgement, as some of my critics will jump at the chance to opine, with all-knowing forefinger in full wag.  It’s just a sort of grown-up viewpoint.

Officially  –  at least in the country where my computer is plugged-in at the moment  –  it’s a criminal offense to do that.   It’s assault.  Now admittedly, it’s not always met with harsh penalties in a court of law, such as the time it happened to a (Canadian) Liberal Party cabinet minister some years ago (possibly begging the question).  The attackers in that case were arrested, then in a court of law, handed suspended sentences of six months plus 50 hours of community service.  That’s plenty serious in my books, but perhaps not for those useless idiots (or is that “useful idiots”?) who advocate this sort of thing.  I mean what else have they got to do  — besides plan their next asinine attack?  Mommy does their laundry, no doubt.  In jail the state would do it for them.  So like, whatever.

Smith and Wolfe -- geniuses who threw a pie at our Ann Coulter years ago, charged with criminal offenses.

On the other periphery of things, some may claim this sort of thing is really a form of terrorism.  That’s certainly the goal of these idiots  –  a form of terrorism  –  although the means and the results are rather effete compared to how we’ve come to know the term (thus, perhaps, terrorism “lite” to go with their vegan diets).  Indeed one American group which has established itself as an official pie-attack group has nicknamed itself “Al-Pieda.”  That’s hilarious huh? Oh the eponymous fun we have with actual murderous Islamofascist terrorists the ignorance of which resulted in the death of thousands of innocent Americans. Good times.

They’re actually the same hilarious group of academic intellectuals –  maybe even the “founders” of that group  –  which attempted to pie (our columnist) Ann Coulter years ago during a speech on an Arizona university campus (but, as Ann Coulter explained, they almost entirely missed her because… “Fortunately for me, liberals not only argue like liberals, they also throw like girls.”)

Phillip Edgar Smith, a University of Arizona political science major (he being a university student is possibly a startling fact to some, but I’m utterly unfazed, knowing first hand what they teach in university, especially in poli-sci classes), and William Zachary Wolff were charged with criminal damage, a felony, and misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct, vandalism, and assault without injury in that case.  Charges were later rather strangely dropped (but don’t worry, it had nothing to do with Ann Coulter being a conservative).  But still later, after it was seen to be just a little TOO strange, the charges were re-filed, and the two pleaded guilty, were convicted of misdemeanor assault, given suspended fines, and were told to pay restitution to the university for damages, after as part of a plea deal, the criminal charges were dropped.  And don’t worry, I have no doubt the fines were paid by their mommies, so the two could continue to invest their savings in no-load mutual funds and solid American stocks and bonds to further their well thought-out plans for their futures.

But as in the case of the slight 80-year-old man, these asses chose as their ever-so worthy opponent a “110-pound female in a skirt and heels” as Coulter described herself. (Don’t kid yourself  –  I have little doubt she’d plant a well-placed stiletto heel upon their tiny scrotal areas before they could say “yes we can!” if they weren’t already tackled by some solid conservative football players in the audience.)  Didn’t the mommies of these geniuses ever teach them to pick on somebody their own size?  Actually I take that back.  I’m pretty sure they taught their little darlings nothing of the sort.  The exact opposite is what’s more likely, and mommy possibly even added “whatever makes you feel good… and the most “empowered.”  Liberals know this better as “social justice.”

It’s hard to argue with Coulter’s conclusion in her 2005 column about the incident (barely) affecting her:

…these Rhodes scholar geniuses with a taste for “fact-driven debate” can’t even achieve the level of argument practiced by the average juvenile delinquent. They’re still stuck at the intellectual level of 2-year-olds in high chairs throwing food.

Just so.  But at least one was going to a state university studying political science mostly at taxpayer expense… so if not now then soon, he’ll probably be running for Congress.  I’ll let you guess which party.

In the meantime, Ann Coulter travels around with a body guard now, as do many conservative media personalities.  And as not one liberal does.

Truth about Sun News

Critics and pundits had best accept the fact it’s here to stay

Three weeks ago, I accepted an extremely generous offer to host a new prime-time show on Sun News Network.

Coren Tonight will debut in August, airing weeknights at 7 p.m., repeated later in the evening.

I’ve hosted a show for more than 12 years at Crossroads television, presenting 3,000 episodes, winning a dozen awards and interviewing thousands of guests, including prime ministers, IRA leaders, Marxist revolutionaries, Nobel Prize winners, authors and activists from every political affiliation imaginable.

But in all that time I never witnessed as much hatred and hysteria around a television enterprise as I have concerning Sun News.

It’s as though a rock has suddenly been lifted and the creatures beneath run wild in panic.

In this case, the creatures are critics and pundits, metaphorically screaming their displeasure.

Between us, some of the fiercest of them applied for jobs at the station and were rejected, or assumed they should be approached and never were. There is none so angry as a journalist scorned.

The screamers can be subdivided.

First, there are the allegedly sophisticated types who accuse Sun TV of lacking in intelligence.

Which is a little odd in that Ezra Levant has written two bestsellers, my 13th book is in its fourth printing and Charles Adler, Brian Lilley and David Akin are some of the best-read and most informed people in journalism.

The same cannot be said for many, if not most, people on Canadian television, who are often achingly insular, have little world experience and are guided more by weeping Oprah than wise opinion.

As one woman journalist said to me, “Sun is, like, you know, like, stupid. Whatever.” No joke — I took down her words verbatim.

Then there are those who dislike the station’s alleged conservatism. Fair enough, I suppose, but this is tribalism.

The CBC has worn its liberalism and socialism on its publicly funded sleeve for decades.

What is worse: A private, self-financed station having a stated opinion, or a public, state-supported one claiming objectivity while slavishly following a particular ideology?

After the leftists come the lazies.

They are the television critics who are so intimate with the established networks they sometimes resemble publicists rather than commentators.

Anything new is threatening to them, and this paradoxical conservatism makes them incapable of offering “fair and balanced” thoughts on the revolution happening in Canadian television.

The truth about Sun News is ratings and advertising are way ahead of predictions — believe me, I would not have left a safe, well-paid job if this were not the case.

As for the future, it is almost inevitable the same political and cultural shift in this country that made the Tories the natural party of government will eventually lead to Sun News being one of, if not the leading, TV station in Canada.

Change can be scary to vulnerable and needy people. Suddenly the world is a bigger place, and it’s time to grow up.

Sorry guys, you can’t keep a good county down, and you can’t keep a good television network down either. Don’t hide from the Sun, but bathe in it.

Lib media rescue attempt; news report opening line: Obama wants Congress to “make spending cuts.”

This takes the cake  –  no sorry it’s from Canada so make that “amuse bouche”  –  for misleading reporting and spin.  The Canadian state-owned media, CBC.ca, starts its article on today’s US debt ceiling crisis first and foremost claiming that President Obama (whom we all know as “Mr. Spending Cuts”  — right?) wants Congress to “make spending cuts” which would “lead to long-lasting government fiscal stability.”

U.S. President Barack Obama has appealed to congressional leaders to make spending cuts that would lead to long-lasting government fiscal stability.

“Congress has run up the credit card and we now have an obligation to pay our bills,” he said Friday morning, in his second news conference in a week to pressure the Republican-led U.S. Congress to come to an agreement about raising the U.S. debt ceiling. …

–CBC.ca article this morning

This is farcical.  Or it’s Friday and I’m reading about Obama in the liberal lamestream media.  Either one. Apparently this particular left-wing media (this one state-owned) has accidentally confused their man Obama with Republicans, who are the only ones demanding spending cuts, and who are properly holding their ground against raising taxes in the middle of a recession  –  or anytime for that matter, that ship having been way overloaded, and long ago sailed.  Closing stupid tax loopholes that Obama’s huge fans like G.E. CEO Jeffrey Immelt have won through their intense corporate lobbying such that they ended up paying no taxes last year? Sure.  But raising taxes as a general matter? No.  So I hope that clears it up for them.

CBC starts their article claiming that Obama is the one who is demanding that Congress come up with spending cuts. No, not tax hikes... spending cuts!

Here’s some more clarity for the CBC:  The President and nearly all Democrats are focused primarily  –  and sometimes exclusively focused  –  not on “spending cuts,” which they abhor, again as a general matter), but rather on pushing for more tax hikes “on millionaires and billionaires” and “corporate jet owners” to close that giant gap in revenues and spending and kill some of the extra 5 TRILLION DOLLARS in debt added since 2007 when Democrats and Obama took control and should have admitted to taking taking ownership of the US economy. For them the problem is not a spending problem (I don’t need to tell you — it is), or if they do think it is, they mean that there isn’t enough spending, and the “stimulus” failed only because there wasn’t enough of it.  Rather it’s a “revenue” problem, see.  “Revenue” is their new code word for “tax hikes.”

And for those of you playing the home version of the game, “millionaires and billionaires” and “corporate jet owners” is code for folks evil enough to work hard and make more than $250,000 per year.  Yes, those families and business owners and entrepreneurs instantly become “millionaires and billionaires” and they own “corporate jets.”  And as second grade school students could attest (if only they were still tested), taxing corporate jets owners would cancel a whopping .002% of the national debt, while putting thousands of jet builders and mechanics and service folks and sales people out of work, thereby lowering “revenues.”  Maybe they should raise taxes on the union workers who build and maintain these jets, instead of the buyers of them.  That’d be some real grassroots pro-active gov for ya!

In fact the very reason the President and Democrats and all his liberal media claim there is no debt deal is that Republicans have been “intractable” with their demands for on the question of spending cuts rather than tax hikes. So why start your article the way CBC did?  Because they know who’s right.  Staring an article in that manner makes it appear as though spending cuts were his primary focus  –  something we know to be patently untrue.  And because they want their man to be on the right side of history, even if he is not.

He has never answered the question put directly to him –  asked even today during the same press conference the CBC is writing about: what specific spending would you cut?

NBC News reporter Chuck Todd asked that specific question this morning, trying to pin him down, to no avail.  I Tweeted in frustration:

[blackbirdpie url="https://twitter.com/#!/JoelJohannesen/status/91887600071213057"]

If a Republican president answered the way Obama did, the press would literally be having a festival of followups, demanding clarity on his answer.  But for their man Obama: nuttin.  Crickets.  Next question.

One of the folks I follow on Twitter said exactly that  –  well actually lots did.  But here’s @derekahunter:

[blackbirdpie url="https://twitter.com/#!/derekahunter/statuses/91893398335782912"]

I’ll be watching for Chuck Todd’s report on MSNBC.  I’m sure he’ll bring that bit up and make it clear. Or as @derekahunter reality-Tweeted:

[blackbirdpie url="https://twitter.com/#!/derekahunter/statuses/91894448711151616"]

I’m sure the media will clear it up for him  –  just like the state-owned CBC did for Canadians.  I’m also sure “investments” aren’t actually “spending.” And “progressive” doesn’t mean “socialist.”

And that the liberal media isn’t carrying Obama’s water and spinning reality to prop him up.

Things I couldn’t care less about: #97: What Bono thinks about Canada

Alas, it’s apparently right up there near the top of what Canada’s liberalvision media and Canada’s politicians and cabinet ministers DO care about  –  and not just one of ‘em.  One Member of Parliament, and three cabinet ministers.  Count ‘em: three cabinet ministers… all of whom trotted off to the stadium to meet Bono.  Three.  Which included Canada’s President of the Treasury Board.  Who went there.  To meet him. There’s less than 30 cabinet ministers in Canada (excluding ministers of state), so that’s roughly 10% of Canada’s top government leaders.

So I have a feeling I now know very well what Bono thinks of Canada and Canadian politics.

By the way, read the big story and you’ll find “the god of stadium rock” has utterly no “take on Canadian politics,” so the tease is a farce.  But you’ll be thrilled to know this: “Liberal MP John McKay was huddled inside a VIP room for his grin-and-grip moment. Sipping cocktails in a reception and waiting for their invitation to meet the god of stadium rock were cabinet ministers Lisa Raitt, James Moore and Tony Clement.”  Plus ex-MP and former prime minister wannabe, Belinda Stronach.  You know it’s true because this is reported by one of Canada’s top media names in politics, CTV’s Don Martin.

Lisa Raitt: Minister of Labour
James Moore: Minister of Canadian Heritage
Tony Clement: President of the Treasury Board

Golly I hope they served up some damn fine amuse-bouche as well.

So at least Canada’s political media and politicians are doing some fabulously important work, on the cocktail circuit with Bono.  Who went to him, to enjoy an audience with “the god.”  Of “stadium rock.”  I’m quite sure this will help build Canada and serve Canadians, in terms of its labour, its Canadian heritage, and its treasury problems.

And here”s a helpful link for cabinet ministers who want to dish about Bono:

Union Member Was F—ing Polite. Customer Was F—ing Lying.

Another big union blindly defends a union member  –  this member accused by a customer  –  a passenger on a regional transit system (Toronto’s “TTC”)  –  who saw him urinating in public while on duty in full view of at least that one passenger.  Who of course complained.

Couldn’t happen on account of our members always abide by proper manners and decorum! claimed the union boss who wasn’t there but chose to slam both the customer/passenger/witness and those in management who dared sympathize with the passenger/witness, and who as management properly apologized on behalf of the entire taxpayer-owned and run operation.  The union held its ground, refusing to apologize.  Ya see he was just talking on his cell phone, see! claimed the union boss. In fact he was discussing work-related matters on it at the time!

“[T]he worker in question was using his cellphone to check on a work assignment … verified by an internal TTC investigation.”
– Union boss Bob Kinnear of the Amalgamated Transit Union

This is a perfectly reasonable explanation because as we know, new humans born after 1985 or so and who are union members have ears and mouths in their crotch area. It’s new! (And they must face a wall while using cell phones now  –  also new.  And the new “smartphones” leak.  Did not know that didja?).

But it was this remark, posted at a Canadian news site, which solidified the claim of union drivers always abiding by the principle of proper decorum.  Note that this is from the official union spokesman:

Union spokesman Bill Reno offered his own opinion on the attention drawn by the negative incident.

“It’s f—ing unfortunate. F—ing unfortunate,” he said. “The airwaves are filled with hatred for TTC drivers.

“It didn’t f—ing happen. And our people are getting creamed out there.”

See, the union always employs proper decorum no matter who they are f—ing addressing. F—ing always.

Government “company” in abject failure (media fails to call it a government failure, tho)

Another 100% state-owned “company” (in Canada  –  where my computer is currently attached to a wall outlet) has created massive havoc.  That’s not unusual. By which I mean at least three facets about this are not unusual:  (1) that the government is causing massive havoc instead of the opposite, which is what you’d think it should be doing; but moreover (2) that a government “corporation”  –  complete with a fancy marketing team and its “philanthropic” ($$) outreach in the community and its “corporate” logos and a CEO with a massive salary and pension plan to beat all, and so on  –  is posing as a “corporation” instead of what they are, which is yet another branch of Big Huge Progressive Liberal Government; and (3) so far, no news media — none of them  –  are calling it yet another government failure even that’s what this is.

Yesterday, a couple of BC Hydro towers collapsed in metro Vancouver, Canada.  Fell right over.  Into a river.

Most in the media are passing off BC Hydro  –  that huge 100% state-owned electricity producer and sales branch of The Big Huge Government  –  as a “corporation,” or as “the company,” as if they were actually another typical free-market business with a regular CEO and shareholders and so on.  Nobody except me mentions that BC Hydro is in fact 100% state-owned.  As if it doesn’t matter.  And of course it does matter. Even to them.  This blurring of the lines, and this lying through  omission of pertinent facts, are by design.  Let me explain.

The media are always so conscious of ensuring that you’re aware of the fact that, say, the school teacher involved in the latest underage sex scandal was from a “Christian” school; or in the alternate, an utterly nondescript school (meaning a public state school).  And every gaffe made by a politician is either made by a Republican (a.k.a. a “conservative” or “right-wing” or “religious right”) politician; or else it was made by a totally unaffiliated politician (meaning a Democrat or liberal or progressive of some sort).  Remember the Democrat Anthony Wiener?  No party affiliation. The Democrat Rod BlagojevichJust a guy.

And no such “corporate” structural identity is attached in this hydro tower collapse story.  See how that works?

This is really the latest example of another Big Huge Government failure of course, as those of us who understand reality  –  which is to say we understand how government, politics, actual business, actual capitalism, and the various pseudonyms and lies and phony baloney news reporting and whitewashing and total BS constantly employed by progressives — works. We know that this purposeful blurring of the lines and omission of facts is by design.

And of course this once again reminds me of the quintessential example I came across some time ago: when I wrote about the citizen who very publicly decided to sue the BC Lottery Corporation (the 100% state-owned gambling idiocy  — yes, progressives think gambling “corporations” are no different than, say, armies or border guards, and are a core function of government too!).  And the citizen said this to the news media about the Lottery “Corporation”:

“It’s about keeping corporations honest, that’s really what it’s about.”
– see this article in Vancouver’s biggest newspaper

That story was fully equipped for progressives: The media all dutifully, happily, reported that remark without any further questions or comments.  Mission accomplished in that case.

A citizen has no clue that the government lottery corporation isn

Liberals who dominate the mainstream media, and other haters of free-market capitalism  –  including all those who think government should own or run or regulate Every Single Thing  –  always frame this sort of thing as another “corporate” failure instead of telling the full truth and fully informing its readers or audience.  This blurring of the lines between government and actual businesses which compete in the marketplace  –  is not merely accidental, or lazy, or fashionable and fun for liberals, progressives, and their media  –  it’s actually a vital ingredient in their push for progressivism  –  the movement toward more of the big government they all adore.  Confusion and this blurring of the lines between government and actual corporations softens and eases the move toward the left  –  toward the full-on socialism they welcome. As we can see, people already don’t know what in tarnation is “public” and what is “private.”  Perfect.

In this latest tale involving Hydro towers, two of the 100% state-owned BC Hydro’s huge transmission line towers simply collapsed and fell into the Fraser River yesterday, as I said.  Thousands upon thousands went without power for hours. People were nearly killed. And now a huge emergency repair and rebuilding project will have to be undertaken  –  all at what amounts to taxpayer expense because the whole operation is owned by the taxpayers.  And suddenly the media doesn’t care about its ownership and management?  And they don’t want to blame socialism they way they blame “capitalism” for the recession (and for pretty much every evil in society today)?  Huh.

At the 100% state-owned media in Canada, the horrible and massively expensive failure called CBC, a CBC fan named “pete hacker” wrote a comment upon reading the news story written there about this BC Hydro news story:

(2011/07/05 at 8:09 AM ET):
“bc hydro is a joke, they should make it public.”

Ignorance abounds. By design.

Aside from the ignorance of fact, it all speaks to the unthinkably poor state of affairs that this vital taxpayer-funded infrastructure is suffering from as a result of their  –  the government’s  –  terrible management.  It was all said to be due to “erosion,” but it will be framed by the apologists of Big Government as yet another example of the “man-made global warming” (caused by — you guessed it: corporations!) and “corporations” raping the hitherto natural, forested landscape, resulting in this erosion.

A citizen has no clue that the government electricity

“[P]ete” seems to think BC Hydro is a private company, and in order to fix this sort of problem and prevent it from happening in the future, he seems to think it should be taken over by the government  –  taken over, presumably in Che Guevara or Fidel Castro or Hugo Chavez style  –  and “make it” a government, err, “corporation” (and 16 people chose to click and agree with this dope).  Eureka! says the media and academics.  Another score by the left and its media and its “educators”.

In reality this is just government in action. Or actually, government inaction.  A government that is at least twice as big as it should be, but refuses to admit it and downsize; shed itself of these “corporations” it cannot manage or even financially afford to manage. Failure to acknowledge this is something that belongs in the private sector, where the genius of free-market capitalism can work its magic. And it’s a failure to manage as a general matter, because government by their very nature can’t manage most things  –  particularly commercial ventures  –  properly as a general matter.  Choosing to “invest” in such things as looking after your gambling needs and worse, your health care, and possibly worse, teaching and looking after your toddlers and children in government-owned and government-run day care centers and education and indoctrination mills?  Don’t worry  –  nothing can go wrong with that either, since it’s government. I mean nothing has gone wrong there so far right?

This ignorance that the progressive forces have created is, as I’ve explained, by design.  The media blurred the lines.  The media will not (and has not in this case) made any effort to correct this ignorance of facts. They have no interest in doing so.  Quite the opposite.  The fact is that this guy “pete hacker” is the exemplary of what Vladimir Lenin called a useful idiot –  and it’s just what the doctor ordered.  Of course by “doctor” I mean the politicians, the media, and educators, but even the real doctors are paid by the state, here in Canada. And that’s working out just swell.
