In his latest column, the brilliant author and columnist Thomas Sowell unwittingly reminds us why we should make sure we buy all his books (Thomas Sowell books at Amazon.com via BoldColors.net), read all his columns, and then elect him as president. It would be useful to have a truly smart, honest, and plain-speaking conservative man in that office, instead of Barack Obama.
Sowell outs Obama as a phony, as well he should because it’s true, but he also points a finger at Obama’s throngs of adoring useful idiots in his mainstream media division, in the form of thanks: “…thanks to the mainstream media, which sees no evil, hears no evil and speaks no evil when it comes to Obama.” This is what I’ve been saying for years, which provides further proof that Sowell is brilliant.
… Like other truly talented phonies, Barack Obama concentrates his skills on the effect of his words on other people — most of whom do not have the time to become knowledgeable about the things he is talking about. Whether what he says bears any relationship to the facts is politically irrelevant.
A talented con man, or a slick politician, does not waste his time trying to convince knowledgeable skeptics. His job is to keep the true believers believing. He is not going to convince the others anyway. …
To extend Sowell’s logic a little further, maybe the mainstream media aren’t really just the corrupt, ideological tools of the Obama/leftist regime that we think they are. Maybe they are also part of Obama’s base — the un-knowledgeable set — or as Rush Limbaugh calls them, low-information voters.
Maybe we should feel sorry for the mainstream media, for they know not what they write and say, and are obviously too lazy or stupid or sycophantic to do any research, or study the real facts, or even read articles that aren’t published at Obama’s New York Times, Media Matters or Huffington Posts divisions; and are simply being held as serfs in a vast Obama thralldom.
I say the media should be set free by the liberals and leftists who own and control them and who inspire them to help them advance this phony right-wing “racism” narrative. I have a dream.
Here’s the fun part: liberals and socialists — progressives generally — detest Thomas Sowell because he’s a black conservative man, and an outspoken one, who speaks the truth in bold colors. Liberals and the left think they own blacks. Which is weird, because they say they’re not racists.
This reminds us of another painful truth for the left: for progressives, it really is all about race, even though we’re told by them that we shouldn’t think that way, and even though Obama says he is the first “post-racial” president. And this helps betray the left’s “tolerance” and “inclusiveness” mantra as a complete lie, once again. And moreover, it debunks the left’s habitual, phony caterwauls of “RACIST!” at every criticism of their man Obama, by any conservative human (except black ones, because that would be too illogical, even for them!).
Or so you’d think it debunks them and sets them straight. Instead, what actually happens in cases like this Sowell situation, is that the left goes ahead and labels Sowell an “Uncle Tom,” or worse. For example, NAACP president Benjamin Hooks called people like Sowell “a new breed of Uncle Tom.”
An article by Larry Elder at Frontpage.com sums it up well:
… Oreo. Uncle Tom. Boot-licking Uncle Tom. Straight-up Uncle Tom. Judas. Boy. Bug-eyed. Foot-shuffling. Sugarcane Negro. Handkerchief head. Trojan Horse. Anti-black. Pro-white. Remus. Sambo. Sambo-Tom. The Anti-Christ. Clarence Thomas supporter. Sniveling weasel. Evil. A-s-kisser. Coconut. Wannabe white. Nickering nabob of negativity. This catalog of names I’ve been called comes from my new book, The Ten Things You Can’t Say in America. Can you imagine the hate mail, including death threats, bombarding Sowell’s and Williams’ mailboxes for the last 30 years? …
Not to pile on (actually that’s exactly what I mean to do), but that article was written by Larry Elder, a black conservative. Ouch.
All this irony wasn’t missed by a commenter named Birdman III (not sure if he’s black or white), who commented on Sowell’s Townhall.com column. Possibly inspired by the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s great race speech, he hit the nail on the head with this progressive-irking bit of ironic truth:
There you go again… judging Obama by the content of his character.
…which is funny because it’s not at all phony, and it’s not at all racist, it’s absolutely true.
